Motorcycle Robbers Apprehended After High-Speed Chase in La Plata

Two robbers on a motorcycle were arrested in La Plata by officers of the Buenos Aires Police after a chase that ended with the criminals' bike being hit. Police sources informed the Argentine News Agency that officers from the motorized division were on a preventive patrol when they detected a black Honda Wave 110 cc motorcycle with two young riders not wearing helmets and performing dangerous maneuvers. When officers attempted to identify them, the riders ignored orders and fled, leading to a pursuit with flashing lights and sirens on, with support requested for a 'cordon and search' operation. The chase ended when the motorcycle, at the intersection of 19 and 532, attempted to run a red light and was struck by a gray Toyota Yaris car, license plate AH526LK. As a result of the impact, the motorcycle's occupants fell and were arrested at the scene. They were identified as Ezequiel Lamarque (18), who was driving, and Luciano Comai (18). Both were treated by ambulances from the SAME and the Ministry of Health and transferred to the Hospital of Gonnet and the Alejandro Korn Hospital in Melchor Romero, respectively, with multiple trauma, but out of danger. The scene was preserved for an investigation, and the motorcycle, which had no license plate, was confiscated. The case was filed as an investigation of illicit activity, resistance to authority, negligent injuries, and a violation of National Traffic Law 24.449, with the intervention of the Functional Instruction Unit (UFI) number 10, the Guarantees Court, and the on-duty Defender's Office of the La Plata Judicial Department.
